This project started when I realized that giving charity alone wasn’t enough to solve the issues faced by underprivileged people. Growing up in Lahore, I saw families relying on rashan, which helped them temporarily but didn’t solve the long term challenges of poverty. People were stuck in a cycle of dependency because they didn’t have opportunities to become independent. This made me think what if there was a way to go beyond just charity and actually empower people to stand on their own?
That’s where Mauqa came in. The idea was to give immediate support, like ration bags, to those in need while connecting them to job opportunities so they could work towards financial independence.
Over time, this small initiative has grown into something I’m proud of. We’ve raised over PKR 200,000, distributed 40 ration bags, and helped 40 people secure jobs in Lahore, Sargodha, and Gujranwala. These jobs have helped families to stabilize their lives, putting food on the table and moving forward with dignity.
This isn’t just a project; it’s a way to show that real change can happen when we think beyond short term solutions. Through Mauqa, I’ve learned that creating opportunities and empowering people is the only way to truly make a difference. It’s not just about helping someone today it’s about giving them the tools to build a better tomorrow.
